Laska Basks in the Continuum
La, La, La, La Life Goes On
Respite. Two deep breaths, gratitude infused. We return to rediscover a under thirty-year-old heroine, in the years after that fish rocked her understanding of everything. Here at TBDI (The Better Duck Inn) we can spin the wheel to any time before, after, or during the capsizing and placing of RV Bowser, on that remote island, where she has been since early November of 2024. Or we can start at the beginning. We have no deadline or need to do any damn thing. No matter what we do or do not do, Laska basks in the continuum.
Oh, she still has much to overcome. But that moment is fixed at the core of her existence. No matter what the direness of her circumstance, she will never again know life without company or be lonely. Prankster photons don’t play that way. but of course, Laska has her doubts about everything. her trials become more and more difficult, and her seafarer’s version of selfcare adds an exponentially absurd level of error to her trials.
Laska has a long way to go, and I for one am in no hurry to design the scenes before or after the Bowser disaster. I am here as much for respite, and those two deep breaths as I am for anything, except for noodles that is.
Yes, there it is, that memory of Ravin’ Ramen, and the noodle fortune, that began at the beginning: The cock-eyed dement old bird logo, with the noodle hanging from its craw. A noodle making fortune from which the Taiwanese built Bowser was built to Korean specifications. It all comes back to me now.
Respite, if nothing else, has been accomplished. Join us for lunch, or breakfast at the Better Duck, you won’t regret it. The noodles are fresh and fantastic. I guarantee it.
