Macbeath Makes Noodles
I can hardly boil them
Netflix is coming to what was the center of my existence, where Grant rode his horse once, before those filled New Jersey wetlands became known as “Home of the Signal Corps.”
Macbeath is a noodle maker from the edge of the estuary. I have never made noodles from scratch in my life. I sure wish I could. I will someday, hopefully, but for now noodles are Macbeath’s territory.
During COVID, while still living in California, I had a terrible case of poison oak. Prednisone pills stopped me from sleeping, and I was feeling no pain. Steroids are amazing. I had an idea for a noodle business; I named it Raven Ramen. As in Raving, but with a demented old crow looking bird logo. I thought I could finance a fleet of research vessels with ramen sales profits. My arms stopped oozing white pus, and I got off the roids in less than the whole prescription, and my brain went back to as close to normal as it ever was.
Now I am back in New Jersey, as close to the estuary as I could afford to be.
Macbeath made noodles at the Better Duck Inn, which is where our screenplay remains since November 2024, when our story got shipwrecked, so now backstory has been the direction, as respite from the nation’s tailspin resumes weekly.
Netflix is coming, and we have no deadline. Making noodles is fun and relaxing to imagine watching. I think Macbeath’s noodle making could prove to be entertaining.
