My Grandfather served in France. The Solomon’s owned the Verona diner, and the Red Ranch, which would eventually become known as Harpoon Willy’s I lived around the corner from there for almost a quarter of a century.
I never met Marvin, his father, or Charlie Kusher. I do not recall ever being to Verona, NJ. In all the years I worked in West Orange for Bob Cohen, I never did get to see where my father grew up. I might just yet, I could write of the expense as research if and when we get a whale behind this project.
I know that Laska deserves her moment. I know there needs to be a scene set in the Better Duck Inn. I know Uncle Joe, needs to bring that boat in Barnegat Inlet, with the nephews gutting blue fish aft, amidst a mass of trailing gulls.
Charlie is Ambassador Kushner now, between our embassy in Paris, or wherever it is in France, and Long Branch where he is reigning monarch. I have not given how to make this Charlie’s project. But I know the fit is perfect. I just do not know how to get the concept close enough to the Commission to pitch them.
