The Noodle Maker

Before the Bowser

I have never made a noodle. I have made tortillas. Macbeath is finally the name of the noodle maker, the cook on R.V. Bowser, which you may recall has been stuck on the rocks since November of 2024.

Since then, efforts have been centered at the Better Duck Inn, mostly. The inn is where our shipwrecked characters met. It took me over a year to produce this name for the cook. I spent many hours pondering his origin story. Why suffer over anything when one has even the slightest bit of imagination remaining?

A wizard in the galley, yes, but more than that. Macbeath is a complex character built for these soul trying times. Wherever you imagine yourself, Macbeath has been there, no less than you have, and no more. Macbeath is not a storyteller, he is a nurturer. He sees what he imagines needs to be plated and he sees what gets there. Attempting to craft noodles that might function in line with spacetime might be a way to describe Macbeath’s favorite pastime.

More trial and error than anywhere close to perfection, Macbeath’s tinkerings in the kitchen of the Better Duck often wound up on the rocks. There is a lot of story left to be thought out before the Bowser is acquired. I am not here to tire myself out. I am here for a respite from the obvious.
